National Accounts Security Design Engineer

Location: UK wide Department: Sales
Due to the expansion of our national account client portfolio and tender opportunities, we have a vacancy for a Security Design Engineer to work closely with our new business executive/Framework content executive and national accounts team. This represents a great opportunity to join our established National Accounts department and help to accelerate our sales pipeline. The role is also ideally suited for candidates wishing to progress from a pure engineering background or sales estimating but wishing to be locally based. This role is home and office based.

The Role

The successful candidate would be responsible for the design and costing of tender opportunities and in house organic projects that arise. They should be able to demonstrate an awareness and aptitude to design and cost projects encompassing such disciplines as CCTV, Access control systems, Intruder alarms whilst embracing new and exciting solutions.

  • Ability to review technical specifications and understanding clients’ requirements to ensure adherence
  • Completing system design and producing a schedule of quantities
  • Completing initial designs based on a technical specification
  • Producing design drawings, schematics.
  • Completing design calculations and presenting technical information
  • Liaising with manufacturers, internal Technical Team and suppliers for technical data and pricing
  • Populating quotations with technical information and costs
  • Researching suitable components/systems and checking for compatibility
  • Producing technical content to support proposals and bids
  • Analysing plans, bills of quantities and other project documentation in order to estimate costs
  • Assessing the financial, technical and operational risks of the project
  • Working closely with key members of the project team (such as the bid manager, Project team etc.)

The Candidate

  • Effective time management skills with the ability to work to deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience of security design and project costing minimum of two years
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to take on responsibility and use initiative to prioritise and work effectively under pressure
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workflows.
  • Confident, enthusiastic individual with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Competent in using Microsoft suite of tools including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
